One lucky person (in the UK) WILL win a goodie bag from MFB on Christmas Day. It will be rammed with random things - books, postcards, some stuff from the EA event I attended earlier this year, a couple of audiobooks and whatever we can find that can fit in a shoebox shaped box.
The books will cover various genres and ages. The goodies will be random things we've picked up during the year at events attended (I don't mean to make it sound like we were STEALING things but there was some ninja subterfuge in some instances...) and it's an extra present in the New Year for a lucky (UK) reader.
This time around there will be one condition of entry:
Comment below on books you are looking forward to in 2010 - or, if you don't have a book in mind, definitely an author's work you're looking forward to reading, even if they've been published in 2009 and you're planning to read it in 2010. Also mention if you are on Twitter so that we know to follow you back! I'm @LizUK and Mark is @Gergaroth.
We will ask one of our friends coming over for Xmas lunch to choose the winner. You'll be notified via email (please leave coded email address in comment section / email us here if you don't want it to be "public") and I'll post a few pics of what will be in your goodie bag/box but it won't be everything as there should be some mystery at least!
So, get going peeps! Comment away - eight days left! Comments will close at around 12pm on the 25th December.

I desperately want to read the next Kate Daniels book by Ilona Andrews.
The teaser, OMG, the teaser....aaaaaaaah!
My email address, not that you need it LOL, is 'multitude of m (at) gmail fullstop com' (no spaces, naturally).
Books I have on my Must Read shelf for early next year, though published in 2009, are Karen Maitland's "The Owl Killers" & Jesse Bullington's "The Sad Tale of The Brothers Grossbart"; both wonderful reads.
There again, I can always use more books... ;)
Have emailed you an email address for contact.
I feel lucky in your competitions so i am definitely entering this one, oh yes!

Good luck everyone!
Blackout by Connie Willis sounds great as does Kraken by China Mieville which seems to deal with gang warfare in London and a group of people who think the giant squid at the Natural History Museum is a dark god...

I'm looking forward to changing your mind about indie online writers: some of us ain't half bad!
So without further ado, and only a very little embarrassment, I propose my online YA F/SF serialCorvus.
Since I don't live in the UK, I won't be able to have your goodie bag. May I donate it to a worthy (UK) cause?
Oh my gosh there are so many I'm looking forward too. Definitely Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins, Sea by Heidi R Kling, The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting, Shadow Hill by Anastasia Hopcus, The Mark by Jen Nadol. There are so many! :)

I am really looking forward to the plethora of steampunk novels that will be published in 2010. It is a genre that I have become obsessed with in 2009 and I am very excited about these books:
Thomas Riley by Nick Valentino: not out in the UK yet, but impatience has got the better of me so I've ordered my copy from the US.
The Bookman by Lavie Tidhar: steampunk + terrorist using bombs in books as weapon of choice = a very contented me!
Secrets of the Fire Sea by Stephen Hunt: So many steampunk elements in Hunt's Jackelian books. Really excited about this one.
Behemoth by Scott Westerfeld: The follow-up to the brilliant Leviathan.
Candle Man 2 by Scott Dakin: The currently untitled (as far as I know) sequel to Mr Dakin's superb first book in the Candle Man series.
2010 will be the Year of Steampunk as far as books are concerned. If I have the time between reading, blogging and training for the London Marathon I'm even going to have at go at making some steampunk models to help satisfy my creative urges..... and then I may finally start on writing my own book lol
Merry Christmas Liz and Mark.... have a good one.

To be honest theres quite a few to get pretty jolly about at this time of year.
Gollancz have an absolute plethora of Urban Fantasy to whet most people's appetites having picked up a number of US authors.
For example:
Lynsey Sands
The Dead-Tossed Waves - Carrie Ryan
A Matter of Blood - Sarah Pinborough
Halfway to the Grave - Jeanie Frost
Then you have the sheer plethora of titles from other houses that really will excite a large number of readers which will make the gluttony of Christmas look like a famine. LOL Theres a few new break through novels, some great secondary titles and of course other follow ups for all genres.
If I listed my personal choices for the next few months there'd probably be no space left. LOL
Yep I'm following on Twitter (Falcata Times) and I'll email my addy to you seperately if I win Liz.
Hope that you both have a great christmas.
2010...
Let me see-first a bit of fantasy fiction.
The Desert Spear - Peter V Brett: After the Painted Man, I can't wait to follow through with the next book. One of the pitfalls of reading a Work in progress sometimes.
Dragons of the Hourglass Mage (Dragonlance Novel: The Lost Chronicles)- Margaret Weis, Tracy Hickman: What can I say, the stories are the best when they both write together.
Other page crawlers-
Her Fearful Symmetry - Audrey Niffenegger: The Time Traveler's Wife got me hooked. It'd be interesting to see the next work.
The Burning Land - Bernard Cornwell : What can I say, it hooks.
Fall of Giants - Ken Follett: While I am not too much a fan of Ken Follett's Thrillers- his historical sagas are quite a good read albeit being a little thick.
Neil Gaiman (author): More misty stuff...
The Importance of Being a Bachelor - Mike Gayle: Right, I guess sometimes we need to balance all the fantasy with a bit of reality.
The age of Zeus - James Lovegrove: I admit, I am attracted by the cover to read the book.
Tom Peters (Author): Reading a business book like a fantasy story.. can't beat such a book.
That's all I have from the top of my head.
Have a merry Christmas and joyous New Year.
